The nerve center of Porsche expertise is the research and development centre outside the gates of Stuttgart. There they administer around 3550 valid worldwide patents. Every year they add 100 more while some expire. The Porsche company has a long tradition in marketing copyrights which stretches right back to 1931 and the very beginnings of the design office of Prof. Ferdinand Porsche.

Synonyms for the idea that Prof. Porsche wanted to realise – namely to found a (until then) unique ultramodern service company, which would supply its extensive knowledge to the motor industry.

The Weissach Development Centre, which was realised in 1972 by Ferry Porsche, the son of the company founder and creator of the vehicles bearing the family name, is the logical progression of that design office – albeit using different tools and in different dimensions.

Today, the Porsche Engineering Group, with headquarters at the Weissach site, together with its subsidiaries offers expertise worldwide to satisfy the huge demand for development services for different industries.
