A 4-door family sedan capable of
accommodating 5 passengers, the 2008 Hyundai
Sonata is available in 3 trims ranging from
the Sedan to the LX. Comparable vehicles
in the marketplace to the 2008 Hyundai Sonata
include the Chevrolet Cavalier, the Mazda
Mazda6, and the Volkswagen Jetta Sedan.
The Sedan is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter,
I4, 138-horsepower engine that achieves
22-mpg in the city and 30-mpg on the highway.
The LX is equipped with a standard 2.7-liter,
V6, 170-horsepower engine that achieves
20-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway.
A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive
is standard on both trims, and a 4-speed
automatic transmission with overdrive is
optional. The 2008 Sonata is basically the
same from model year 2002.
