Acura
TSX Engineering
Acura
engineering never rests on past accomplishments. It
can't, because the innovative and perfectionist culture
of the Acura division is always pushing the boundaries
of technology. It stays on the cutting edge because
it sharpens that edge itself. Acura was the first Japanese
premium nameplate in the U.S. It was the first to create
an all-aluminum production car, the Acura NSX. It was
the first to introduce an in-dash satellite-linked navigation
system, in the 3.5 Acura RL.
And Acura is also the first luxury import brand to design
and assemble cars in the U.S., starting with the Acura
CL and Acura TL models.
Acura has also brought to market an SUV in the Acura
MDX, that is inspired by Acura's luxurious history
and endless pursuit of perfection evidenced even in
the Acura Integra model.
Some
key engineering highlights for Acura
Vehicles include: development of the VTEC
(Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control)
system, the first-ever variable valve timing system
for cars; an advanced double-wishbone upper and lower
control arm suspension system; drive-by-wire throttle;
and the development of advanced safety systems like
a dual-stage front passenger's air bag, a height- and
position-sensing side impact air bag for the front passenger,
and the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system. All this
is evident in the engineering aspect of the Acura
TSX vehivle. Acura engineering has set benchmarks
for other marques, for nearly as long as there have
been Acura cars.
